Look the Part.
An artist, a baker, a mechanic, a designer, a leader, an educator. Do the clothes make the artisan or does the artisan make the clothes?
Every day we encounter artisans of various disciplines. Some look the part and others look no different from anyone else we come across. That difference may seem inconsequential but there is something subconsciously (and often consciously) thrilling about an artisan who looks the part. Our mind delights in the recognition and expectation of what of their craft may be offered to us. We come to expect excellence. So LOOK THE PART !!! elevate the experience. every experience.
This artist could have shown up in sweats and a tshirt, but LOOK AT HIM! He’s painting a master work at THE MET! And he’s dressed for it. It’s the whole image. He looks the part and it elevates the entire experience for him and for the onlookers like myself. I have not been able to forget this moment and the incredible lesson it was. Look the part, elevate the experience.
This thought about how you dress can benefit you in every facet of your life.
Professionally, your ideas and accomplishments will be better received if the audience (your boss) can see you as the person best fit to deliver said ideas/accomplishments. {this can spell money in your pocket! Don’t miss out on this benefit.}
Socially, putting the effort in to how you show up with friends comes through in your conversations and your interest in each interaction. I always think of showing up dressed appropriately for the occasion as generous to the host!
Romantically, a little sex appeal never hurt. Interested in some heat with your partner or a new guy/girl in your life? Non-verbal cues, including how you dress, are a huge part of sending the message.
So LOOK THE PART !!! elevate the experience. every experience.
